Cookie Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

No advertising tags run on JobsAbroad Zimbabwe, and no cookie is set by our own code. Any cookies you receive are from our two analytics tools. The sections below account for everything that may be stored in your browser while you browse the site.

1. What "cookies" covers here

For convenience, "cookies" in this policy means every method by which a site keeps data in a browser:

  • Cookie: a little text file saved by a site and sent back to it on later visits.
  • sessionStorage: tied to one tab and wiped when it is closed.
  • localStorage and IndexedDB: remain in place until deleted by someone.

2. The one thing our own code stores

There is exactly one item that our code puts in a visitor's browser, and it is not a cookie.

chunk_reload_at is a timestamp in sessionStorage. Should we release an update while your page is open, it allows a single automatic refresh so that nothing breaks. It says nothing about you and disappears with the tab. We never use it to identify you, to count visitors or to follow you onto other sites.

3. Cookies from our analytics tools

The two tools, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, tell us how visitors use the site; the Privacy Policy covers what they gather. Their cookies are:

  • Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years each;
  • Microsoft Clarity sets _clck (1 year) and _clsk (1 day);
  • Microsoft also sets CLID and MUID, 1 year each.

The hidden admin page runs neither tool.

4. Staff sign-in

A staff member who signs in on the hidden admin page has the session kept by Firebase Authentication (Google) in IndexedDB or localStorage, with the login email in localStorage. A visitor who never opens that page gets none of this on their device.

5. Other things our pages load

Google Fonts. The typefaces come from Google, so Google learns your IP address and some browser details as they load.

YouTube. Preview pictures for any YouTube Shorts we show are fetched from i.ytimg.com; a page without videos hides the section and requests nothing. The player itself comes from youtube-nocookie.com and loads only after you tap a video, after which YouTube may store data in line with Google's policies.

WhatsApp and share buttons. Nothing happens until you tap one.

Sites we link to. Government websites and the other sites we link to (Skills Assessment Australia, Build AI CV, Talent Tabloid and English test practice) place cookies of their own, under their own policies, when you go there.

7. Taking control

You can delete or block site data in your browser settings whenever you like; the public site will carry on as normal. Private or incognito windows throw their storage away on closing. If Google Fonts cannot load, your device falls back to a font it already has. Anyone who wants YouTube to store nothing should avoid playing the videos, because the preview images do not start the player. Only the staff sign-in depends on browser storage. Blocking Google Analytics alone is possible with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

8. If this policy changes

A new cookie or stored item would be added to this list and the date at the top updated. Our Privacy Policy deals with personal data more generally.
