A growing business in Western Australia has a vacancy for a Civil Engineering Technician. It works in civil construction and earthmoving, specialising in earthworks, site preparation and civil projects for residential, commercial and industrial developments, and the technician is the Civil Engineer's technical support across multiple earthworks and site-development projects.
You would work Monday to Friday in 8-hour shifts, permanent and full-time. Days mix office-based drafting and documentation in AutoCAD and Civil 3D with site visits for measurements, material testing, technical inspections and quality checks that follow approved designs, Australian Standards, project specifications and WHS requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and amend drawings and plans in AutoCAD and Civil 3D and keep the as-built set and documentation current
- Gather site measurements and data, run field and lab tests and set the results against the approved drawings and specifications
- Inspect and monitor earthworks, trenching, drainage and compaction and log any non-conformances
- Work out quantities and prepare schedules, tender documents and technical reports, helping with estimates
- Check subcontractor submissions, liaise with site teams and report issues affecting quality or compliance
Requirements & Eligibility
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction, Building Engineering Technology or a related discipline (substantial relevant experience can stand in for other qualifications)
- Minimum 2 years in civil construction, drainage, site preparation, earthworks or civil engineering technical support
- Knowledge of the Australian Standards that apply, including AS 3798
- Knowledge of the relevant parts of the AS 1289 series
- Hands-on competence in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Can interpret drawings and specifications
- Can take site measurements and help with quantity calculations
- Understands technical inspections, construction quality control and non-conformance reporting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; MS Project desirable
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- White Card that is current (or obtainable before site work); valid Australian driver licence (or the ability to obtain one), and willing to travel between project sites across Western Australia
