A long-standing road transport business in regional New South Wales, with a base in Dubbo and a second Riverina workshop on a rotating roster to Dubbo, is looking for an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic. The job is permanent, full-time and centred on heavy commercial vehicles.
The fleet is made up of prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment. The job is about demanding fault diagnosis, repairs and planned maintenance, which keep downtime low and the business compliant with NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS rules. Visa sponsorship (subclass 482) can be offered to suitably qualified candidates, with a preference for people who currently hold a valid visa in Australia. Employment criteria include a licence, a medical check and drug and alcohol testing.

Key Responsibilities
- Do scheduled preventive maintenance and logbook servicing on engines, transmissions and brakes, to OEM guidelines
- Find faults (electrical, mechanical and emission control) with advanced diagnostic tools, and fix them
- Rebuild major components
- Do fabrication when needed
- Keep NHVR compliance complete and detailed records ready for audits
- Follow workshop safety rules and manage work orders in fleet management software
- Give roadside assistance, and help train drivers in vehicle checks and defect reporting
Requirements & Eligibility
- Heavy diesel mechanic experience of at least 2 years (road transport is the preferred setting)
- Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification
- Desirable experience with NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment
- Diagnostic software proficiency
- Knowledge of petrol and diesel engines
- A current licence, with the ability to pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
