Trade-qualified welders are in demand at this Perth manufacturer, which is expanding its facilities to supply modular critical power infrastructure and AI data centre solutions. It is seeking two welders for its fabrication team, full-time and ongoing, with a trade qualification in welding or boilermaking as the starting point.
You would weld skid bases, frames and enclosures on modular systems, working to engineering drawings and weld maps. The 40.5-hour week runs 6:00am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 6:00am to 12:30pm Friday. Visa sponsorship is available for the right overseas candidates.
Welders in Harare or Bulawayo should put welding processes, positions and weld tests up front, then get the welder's CV in shape with Build AI CV to keep it clear.
Key Responsibilities
- Weld structural and module work using GMAW, solid wire and cored wire
- Produce quality, compliant welds on structural members including 530UB beams and 150x100 RS rafters, from engineering drawings and weld maps
- Weld in flat, horizontal and vertical positions according to approved welding procedures (WPS)
- Interpret technical drawings, weld maps and job specifications
- Prepare steel, fit up and tack before welding, and check finished welds visually
- Join in general fabrication and assembly, in a safe, clean and organised area that meets company and WHS standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- A trade qualification in welding or boilermaking
- GMAW (MIG) skills on solid wire that are strong, and cored wire experience that is highly regarded
- Passing a 2F weld test in mild steel
- Welding with competence and confidence in flat, horizontal and vertical positions
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and weld maps
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality work, and a reliable, safety-conscious, team-minded approach
- Own welding helmet and own hand tools
