Welding and steel fabrication skills are in demand at a Perth fencing manufacturer, which is recruiting a Metal Fabricator / Welder. On a normal day you would form and join steel parts, make frames and gates, do MIG welding and get the opportunity to learn other areas of the factory.
The business wants skilled tradespeople for the long term who are already residing in Australia with valid working rights. Working Holiday visa holders (417/462) are welcome if their skills and experience meet the requirements. For suitable people it is considering employer sponsorship under the subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa, which depends on occupation, skills assessment and immigration rules, and a formal skills assessment may be needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Shape and cut steel parts, prepare them and put the components together
- Fabricate metal frames, gates and other steel products
- Carry out MIG welding and other welding processes where relevant
- Interpret technical drawings and fabrication specifications
- Run fabrication machinery, equipment and hand tools
- Check finished welds and products for quality and accuracy, and pick up other areas of the manufacturing operation while helping other teams
Requirements & Eligibility
- A Certificate III/IV in metal fabrication or welding, or an equivalent overseas trade qualification, together with relevant skilled work of at least 12 months in the past five years
- As another route, at least three years of skilled metal fabrication and/or professional welding without formal qualifications
- Payslips and references from employers that verify employment dates and skilled duties
- Welding and fabrication skills you can demonstrate in practice
- Current residence in Australia with valid working rights, and willingness to undertake a formal skills assessment if required
