Hands-on, reporting to the Financial Controller and closely aligned with the CFO, this Financial Accountant job in Melbourne is the financial engine of a high-growth digital marketplace group, on a hybrid basis. It begins as a temporary position built to lead to permanent full-time employment.
Expect month-end discipline, balance sheet integrity and multi-entity statutory compliance, with an assistant accountant doing daily transactions, in a lean, transparent setting where senior leadership is easy to reach. The job is for people already in Australia on a Working Holiday visa who can show proven accounting capability. Eligible holders receive full visa support.

Key Responsibilities
- Close the month and period in Xero across several group entities
- Prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations and consolidated trial balances
- Handle BAS/GST lodgements and payroll tax reconciliations
- Handle leave provisions and FBT returns alongside external tax advisors
- Keep an eye on the offshore Assistant Accountant's daily processing, invoice entry, receivables chasing and routine payroll
- Handle intercompany loans, recharges and eliminations so balance sheets stay audit-ready
- Support baseline FP&A: cash flow tracker, actual-versus-budget variances and annual budget data
- Use enterprise AI tools and automation platforms to streamline recurring reconciliations
- Assist executives with ad-hoc schedules and documentation on group structuring and entity setups
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce, plus CA/CPA status or an equivalent such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, completed or underway
- Financial accounting experience within Australia or a comparable jurisdiction, including ownership of month-end ledgers and statutory compliance
- Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417 or 462) holders with full Australian work rights are strongly encouraged to apply, and employer sponsorship is supported for high-performing talent moving to permanent status
- Accountable, detail-focused and adaptable, with clear, concise written and verbal communication and confidence working with executives
