If you have worked in a commercial bakery, this full-time Baker role in Brisbane is worth a close look. The bakery and café makes its breads, pastries and cakes on site every day and also builds custom celebration cakes, so you will handle the daily bake and the decorative finishing.
The post is permanent, 38 hours per week, with an established and growing business. Overseas applications are welcome, and the right candidate can be offered visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Check raw materials and weigh out ingredients before each run
- Prepare batters, doughs, fillings, pastry and cake mixes, then portion and mould them into breads, tarts, rolls, cakes and other products
- Handle trays, tins and the ovens, controlling temperatures and baking times
- Finish cakes and pastries with sugar paste, fondant, icing, chocolate and cream
- Design custom cakes and celebration cakes to customer orders
- Price, package and display the products in the café, and plan production so the shelves are full from opening
- Look after mixers, sheeters, provers and other bakery equipment, and keep to food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
- Take part in recipe and product development, and guide and train junior bakers and kitchen staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- Training in Baking or Patisserie to Certificate III or IV level, or a higher culinary arts or patisserie qualification
- Hands-on experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or Pastrycook for at least 1 year, in a commercial bakery, patisserie or hotel kitchen
- Practical strength in pastry, cake production and decorating
- Solid grounding in food safety and hygiene practices
- Early starts, weekends and a rotating roster must be workable for you
- Fondant work and custom cake design experience would be desirable
- Kitchen supervision or team leadership experience is preferred, and customer-facing bakery or café experience is an advantage
